He was born in Norwalk, Connecticut on November 4, 1952 to Theresa Miller. He was adopted by Edward Rogers after the marriage of Teresa and Edward in 1958. He was a light of his mother’s life. He was also the center of the universe to his three younger siblings, David Rogers of Bethel, Connecticut, John Rogers of Garner, North Carolina, and Patricia Rogers of Trinity, Florida.
At a very young age, Carl had a passion for 18 wheelers and spent his life pursuing his dream and joy of being a long-distance truck driver. He was called to service (US Army) in 1971 and was stationed in Frankfurt Germany. He returned home to Darien Connecticut in 1973. Shortly thereafter, he met the love of his life, Susan Avery. They married in January 1978 and had one child, Rhiannon Day of Benson, North Carolina. Carl and Susan were inseparable until her death in 2023. His heart was shattered.
He was fondly known as “Poppy” by his grandchildren, Caitlin Holt, Taylor Wilson, and Hayley Faircloth. He was also great grandfather to Emma Faircloth, Avery Wilson, and Florence Holt.
Carl will always be remembered as a witty, kind, gentle soul. He handled life and death with grace will forever be missed.
The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time.
