Cameron Johnson

Benson, NC: Mr. Cameron Wilson Johnson age 90 of 12111 Raleigh Rd. died Wednesday at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Saturday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Jessie Brock and Mr. Tom Joyner. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Benson. Mr. Johnson was born April 11, 1921 in Johnston County to the late Amos Cephas and Martha Barbour Johnson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Eva J. McCullers; and brothers, Victor Johnson, Cecil Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Leon Johnson, Garland Johnson, and Sherwood Johnson.  After high school, Mr. Johnson farmed with his family. He enlisted in the US Navy after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and served in the Pacific during WWII as an aircraft mechanic. Mr. Johnson owned & operated C. W. Johnson General Merchandise until 1966 and then was employed at Floyd Price Inc. in Selma until his retirement in 1983. He attended Burnell Baptist Church. Surviving include Wife of 62 years, Janie Tart Johnson; Daughter & Son-In-Law, Phyllis Johnson & Craig J. Tillery of Anchorage, AK.;  Grandson, David J. Tillery of New York, New York; and Numerous Nieces & Nephews. Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday. Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Oberlin Road, Suite 220, Raleigh, NC  27605 or Burnell Baptist Church Building Fund, 3720 Old School Road, Four Oaks, NC  27524.
