Benson, NC: Mrs. Blanche Viola Batchelor Honeycutt, age 98, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC, surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM Monday, December 22, 2025 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC. Funeral Services will be held 2:00PM, Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Pleasant Hill Christian Church, Benson, NC. Dr. Ron Byrd and Rev. Paul Beatty will officiate. Burial will follow in Fellowship Community Cemetery, Angier, NC, officiated by Rev. Scott Johnson.
Mrs. Honeycutt was born October 1, 1927 in Onslow County, NC to the late A.H. Batchelor and Hannah Swinson Batchelor. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Calvin Honeycutt, her brothers, Ernie Harold Batchelor and Leonard Hardy Batchelor, and nephews, Michael Batchelor and Gary McGee.
Mrs. Honeycutt was the Valedictorian of Richlands High School Class of 1944, and she graduated from Hardbarger Business College of Raleigh, NC in 1948. Following graduation she worked as secretary to the president of First Citizens Bank of Jacksonville, NC. Married in 1953 in Richlands, Mr. & Mrs. Honeycutt settled in the “Byrdtown” neighborhood near Benson, NC. As they had both trusted Christ as Lord and Savior earlier in life, their search for a church home brought them to Pleasant Hill Christian Church where they were baptized and served as faithful members. Through the years Mrs. Honeycutt taught Sunday School, coordinated Vacation Bible School, served in the Ladies Auxiliary, cleaned the church building, directed Christmas plays, hosted or cooked meals for visiting preachers, placed flowers in the church, sang in the choir, and prayed constantly for the church. Mrs. Honeycutt was a homemaker and tax preparer for L.C. Honeycutt Accounting and Insurance Agency. Throughout her life she was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her children, Loretta H. Byrd and husband, Medwick, Brent Honeycutt and wife, Serena, Greg Honeycutt, and Kyle Honeycutt and wife, Nancy; grandchildren, Colbert Page Howell, Jr. and wife, Angie, Mary Honeycutt Jernigan and husband, Brad, Calvin Brent Honeycutt and wife, Tara, and Chase Roger Honeycutt and wife, Kelly; great-grandchildren, Addyson Honeycutt, Liam Jernigan, Charlie Kate Honeycutt, Ansley Honeycutt, Dani Honeycutt, Luke Jernigan, and Jackson Honeycutt; special nephew, Kenneth Batchelor and wife, Elena; and many other nieces and nephews.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Christian Church, 929 Pleasant Hill Church Road, Benson, NC 27504, or to the SECU Hospice House PO Box 1376, Smithfield, NC 27577.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Yvonne Shaw for her loving care shown to Mrs. Honeycutt for the last 5 years.
