Coats, NC: Mrs. Betty McCarty Vaughn, age 79, of 344 S. Church Street died Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at her residence. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Coats. Officiating will be Rev. Jesse Mooney and Rev. Neil Thornton. Burial will follow in Coats City Cemetery, Coats.             Mrs. Vaughn  was born June 1, 1939 in Spotsylvania, VA  to the late James Maxwell and Isakate Brumley McCarty. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Thomas Vaughn. Mrs. Vaughn was a lab technician and retired from Betsy Johnson Hospital and was a member of Coats Baptist Church. She loved many aspects of her life, which included: her grandchildren, gardening, and baking.             Surviving include; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Tim Layn of Coats; three grandchildren, Rachel Fuhrer, David Fuhrer, and Ella Layn; brother and sister-in-law, James "Jim" and Delphia McCarty of Fredericksburg, VA; and several nieces and nephews.             The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Saturday, December 15, 2018 prior to the service and other times at the home of Jennifer and Tim Layn, 25 Country Meadow Lane, Coats, NC 27521.             Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Handyman Ministry at Coats Baptist Church, 554 N. McKinley Street, Coats, NC 27521. The family of Mrs. Vaughn would like to thank her caregivers, Delois Matthews and Diane Upchurch, for all their hard and caring work.
