Coats, NC: Mrs. Betty Ruth Williams Manning, age 91, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
The family will receive friends from 10:30AM-12:00PM, Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Gift Primitive Baptist Church in Coats, NC. The service will follow at 12:15PM. Elder Jim Smith, Elder Tony Parker, Elder Wayne Gravely, and Elder David Brooks will officiate. Burial will follow in Harnett Devotional Gardens in Dunn, NC.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 6pm - 8pm at the home of Joan Mize at 430 Jernigans Pond Lane, Coats, NC.
Mrs. Manning was born on November 27, 1934 in Harnett County, NC, to the late Everette M. Williams and Ruth Evelyn Jernigan Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ralph Manning, and brothers, Ernest Jackson (E.J.) Williams, Jerry Bruce Williams, Herbert Lavonne Williams. Mrs. Manning retired from Terry Hill and was also a cook for over 35 years. She and her late husband, Charles, were known around Coats as Santa and Mrs. Claus for many years. She was a member of Gift Primitive Baptist Church in Coats, NC, where she served in many capacities. Betty was a prominent member of the Kiwanis Club and served as a volunteer at Coats Senior Center as well as various other organizations within the community.
Survivors include her daughters, Annie Stone Holmes, and Bonnie Stone Glover and husband, Ricky; siblings, Wilma Stone, Kenneth W. Williams and wife, Ann, Ronald H. Williams and wife, Susan, and Joan W. Mize; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and Charlie, her favorite cat and companion; step-sons, Chuck Manning, and John Manning and wife, Liz.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Gift Primitive Baptist Church PO Box 490, Coats, NC 27521.
