Benson, NC: Ms. Belinda Carole Hatfield, age 83, of Raleigh Road died Sunday, June 7, 2026, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield surrounded by loved ones. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson.

Ms. Hatfield was born June 17, 1942 in Branchland, West Virginia to the late Willis and Wanda Hatfield. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Tarry Harville and brothers Danny, Jerry and Randall Hatfield. Ms. Hatfield was a member of the Lemon-Monroe High School class of 1960 where she she won accolades for district and state musical competitions and participated in choir throughout her school years. Her love of music carried her through her life as she remained a faithful servant to the church during her lifetime. Ms. Hatfield was retired from the state of Ohio where she continued her life of service to others in Food Issuance and Social Services, she retired in 2003. Ms. Hatfield loved to travel and experience the beauty of the country. Her hobbies were baking, dancing and floral arranging. She poured her heart and soul into her family, her most cherished times were family Sundays and the holidays with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving is her children, Christina Shelton and husband Billy, Cheryl Long and husband Neal, Barney Back (Catherine); grandsons, Bear Baker (Brandy), Bryson Shelton and Richard Harville; granddaughters, Raven Shelton, Christina Long (Cory), Brittany Swearingen (Swen), and Tara Harville; and fourteen great grandchildren. Her surviving siblings, Tony Hatfield (Elaine), Gene Hatfield (Faye), Sandra Clark (Jerry), Rick Hatfield (Angie) and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Carolina Dementia Alliance, Music and Memory Memorial Fund, dedicated in honor of Belinda Hatfield.

The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers and will receive family and friends other times at the home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
