Angier, NC: Mrs. Audrey Creech Ennis, age 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. The family will receive friends from 2:00PM-2:45PM on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00PM in the Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Angier, NC. Officiating will be Rev. W. A. Creech, nephew.
Having lost her mother at the age of 12, Audrey “Faye” was greatly influenced by her paternal grandmother, Florence Johnson. Granny Johnson taught her to live in a way that would be pleasing to God, and that is how she lived her life.
Audrey Faye Creech Ennis was born on December 31, 1937 to the late Paul Ayden and Bessie Johnson Creech. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Harold E. Ennis, brothers, Oliver Creech, Roy Ray Creech, and Levon Creech, sisters, Doris C. Chennis and Deborah C. Justice.
Audrey was well known to the Cleveland Community of Johnston County, having served as secretary at the “original” Cleveland High School for 33 years. Many students fondly remember going to the office to purchase school supplies or to get a band-aid from Mrs. Ennis. Following her retirement from Cleveland School, Audrey worked in the office of Jim Wilson, CPA in Smithfield, NC. She served as a volunteer for the Hospital Auxiliary at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC, until she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2016.
Audrey was an active member of Providence Presbyterian Church in Angier, NC, for many years, having served as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, VBS Director and member of Diaconate. She and Harold later moved their membership to Benson Grove Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and enjoyed participating in the Women’s Ministry.
Mrs. Ennis is survived by daughters, Jan Ennis Jernigan (Glynn) of Dunn, NC, and Tammy Ennis Harvey of Cary, NC; grandchildren, Michael Wise (Becky), Brandon Wise (Amber), Ashley M. Jones (Matthew), Kristin McLeod (Matt Wall), great-grandchildren, Aubrie Wise, Austin Wise, Logan Wise, Brooklyn Wise, Parker Jones and Kennedy Jones, Emma McLamb, and Jayde Wall; sister, Barbara Creech Meeks (Robert); sisters-in-law, Geraldine Creech, and Betty Upchurch Creech; many beloved nieces and nephews.
At the time of her death, Mrs. Ennis was a resident of the Alzheimer’s (SPARK) unit at Harnett Woods Nursing & Rehab in Dunn, NC. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Urline, Patricia, Lauren, and many other special nursing staff for the excellent and loving care they provided.
The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers.
