Dunn, NC: Mrs. Ann Johnson O’Neal, age 79, of Beasley Street passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 10:45AM on Monday, August 10, 2026 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, August 10, 2026 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Mr. Chad Strickland. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson.

Mrs. O’Neal was born on February 4, 1947 in Harnett County to the late Paul Douglas and Dorothy Godwin Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Watson O’Neal; and her brother, James Douglas Johnson. She retired as a teacher with the Cumberland County Public Schools after 30 years. Mrs. O’Neal loved teaching North Carolina History and health lessons to her fourth-grade students. After retirement she enjoyed shopping, genealogy, and making new friends. Mrs. O’Neal contributed to The Heritage of Coats, North Carolina a comprehensive two volume collection of local history and genealogy.

Mrs. O’Neal is survived by her sons, Adrian O’Neal and wife, Melissa; and Adam Johnson O’Neal; grandchildren, Lauren Craig and husband, Colby and Alex O’Neal and wife, Abbey, and Georgia O’Neal; great-grandchildren, Lyla Craig, Watson O’Neal, and Calla Craig; sister, Paulette Warren and husband, Tony; sister-in-law, Freda Johnson; several nieces and nephews.

The O’Neal family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Jackie, Sherry, Michelle, and Cynthia. These ladies allowed her to be home and spend time with her family and her cherished cat.

Mrs. O’Neal was a graduate of Campbell University and a life-long educator. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Campbell University Advancement Services, P.O. Box 125, Buies Creek, NC 27506 in memory of Mrs. Ann O’Neal.
