Alton Lavelle King

Willow Spring, NC: Mr. Alton Lavelle King, age 90, of Mt. Pleasant Road passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Graveside Funeral Services will be held-2:00 P.M. Monday, November 7, 2022 at Harnett Devotional Gardens in Dunn. Officiating will be Pastor Eddie White.

Mr. King was born on April 11, 1932 in Johnston County to the late Haywood Alton and Mary Dupree King. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Young King, a son, Anthony Wayne King, son-in-law, Eddie Holt Byrd; grandson, Benjamin Neil Byrd, and a brother, Samuel Howard King. Mr. King was a retired farmer and carpenter. He was known locally as the “Collard King” and for his produce and vegetable gardening.

Surviving includes his daughters, Deborah King Byrd of Willow Spring, Lori King Stancil and husband, Kenneth of Willow Spring; grandson, Damien Wayne King of Angier; great-granddaughter, Lana King; sister, Helen Smith of Willow Spring; brothers, Glenn King and wife, Margaret of Coats, Jerry King and wife, Peggy of Four Oaks; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. prior to the service at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home.

Flowers are welcome; however, memorials may be made to Community Care and Hospice, 208 Butternut Ln, Clayton, NC 27520.

The King Family would like to extend their special appreciation to Misty, Jami, Renee and to everyone that helped them during their father’s short illness.
