Ronald "Ronnie" Roy, Sr.

Ronald “Ronnie” Charlie Roy, Sr., affectionally known as “Papa”, age 84, lost his battle with cancer and went to be with our Lord on January 13, 2021.  A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, January 16, 2021 at St. Mary’s Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park in Raleigh.  Rev. Wesley Taylor will officiate. Mr. Roy was born on July 13, 1936 in Wake County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Henry Roy and Charlie Ethel Roy, his beloved wife, Kathleen Rose Burnette Roy and a sister, Patricia Roy Harry.   Ronnie worked in maintenance until he retired.  He was a huge train enthusiast, and has a massive collection of model trains, the only thing he loved more than his trains, was his family.  Heaven gained another angel as he is reunited with his beloved wife so they can once again walk hand and hand, down the streets of gold rejoicing with our Lord. Ronnie, leaves behind his son, Ronald Charlie Roy, Jr. and wife Rhonda, a grandson, Ronald Henry Roy and his finance, Whitney Cassandra Smith, two sisters, Jenny Lind Styons, Agnes Roy Campbell and a twin brother, Donald H. Roy and his wife Elaine, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and one great-great niece and nephew.  The family will receive visitors at the family home from 7:00PM to 9:00PM on Friday, January 15, 2021.  They will also receive friends from 10:00AM-11:00AM, Saturday, January 16, 2021 prior to the service at St. Mary’s Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church.   In accordance with NC-COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing, and the three W's: wait, wash, and wear a face covering. Masks are required for all services.           Arrangements are by Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC.

Papa, your wings were ready but our hearts were not. We love you and will miss you deeply! Give Memaw a hug and kiss from us as we know you two are together for now and always.

Ronnie Roy, One of the humblest, dearest of men who ever walked this earth. A mechanical genius who loved family first (first and foremost, his beloved wife, Kay, who preceeded him to heaven) and railroading. He never. ever had anything bad to say about people or happenings in his life. It was easy to underestimate how talented he was. A man of deep faith and love...He already is greatly missed...We loved him so....Donnie (his identical twin brother) and Elaine Roy
