Elmo Roosevelt "Nookie" Wilkins

Benson, NC: Mr. Elmo Roosevelt “Nookie” Wilkins, age 86, of Old Fairground Road passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at his residence. Graveside Services will be held 11:00AM, Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Harnett Devotional Gardens in Dunn. Rev. Lester Bledsoe will officiate.              Mr. Wilkins was born on September 28, 1934 in Johnston County to the late James Wellon and Ada Christine Long Wilkins. He was preceded in death by several sisters and brothers. Mr. Wilkins retired from the International Paper Company. Surviving include his wife of 64 years, Betty M. Wilkins; children, Vicky Joyner of Erwin, Randy Wilkins and wife, Karen of Garner; grandchildren, Jason Joyner and wife, Mandy, Joey Joyner, Christine Wilkins, Graham Wilkins; great-grandchildren, Zoe Joyner, Truett Joyner, James Joyner, and Jesse Joyner; sister, Mamie Godwin of Benson; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wilkins will be available for viewing and you may sign the register book on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and the family will not be present during this time.               In accordance with NC-COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing and the three W's: wait, wash, and wear a face covering. Masks are required for all services.             Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Liberty Home Care and Hospice 105 Hunt Valley Drive, Dunn, NC 28334.             Arrangements by Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC

Betty and Family Tony and I are so very sorry for the loss of Nookie . We send our love and condolences to you and your beautiful family. Our hearts are so broken for you and your family. We pray the Lord will wrap His loving arms around you and your family as you face these next days weeks and months that you are facing. I have know you and your famil for for almost 48 years and no matter where Tony and I saw the two of you Nookie always had a smile on his face and we would always have to stand and talk for a while. We enjoyed every time we saw ya'll and the time we share with each other just talking.He is not suffering any more and has a new body. You and your family are in our thoughts our hearts and most of all our prayers. Hold on to all the wonderful memories you have in your heart and they will help you get through this time of sorrow with the help of the Lord.WEEPING MAY ENDURE FOR THE NIGHT BUT JOY COMETH IN THE MORNING.
